Welcome to the TRU WHMIS 2015 OER Project!

In response to the need for on-campus COVID19 protocols, Thompson Rivers University (TRU) made it a requirement for all students, faculty, and staff to have passed the online TRU WHMIS 2015 course before studying or working onsite at either of TRU’s campuses.  This new requirement brought that course and the importance of the safe handling of hazardous materials to increased attention and revealed that not all students, faculty and staff found the content easy to learn.  In response, a team of faculty members and a manager from TRU’s Health, Safety and the Environment Office came together to develop H5P learning objects based on the WHMIS 2015 content.  Our intent is that these OER resources created with H5P — a powerful, open source, multi-media tool for creating interactive content — will help future students, faculty and staff learn this important information.  As we built these resources, we kept the principles of Universal Design for Learning in mind to build engaging, accessible, and interactive content that lent itself well to WHMIS 2015. We are pleased to provide this WHMIS 2015 Open Education Resource.

With many thanks to Danielle Collins, Supervisor, Editing and Copyright— TRU Open Learning for her significant assistance throughout the project.

Thanks as well to Marie Bartlett, Instructional Designer, Learning Design, and Innovations for her thoughtful and attentive review of these web resources.
